Team Leader - Therapists/Counsellors

Permanent, Full-time

Wellington Sexual Abuse HELP Foundation (HELP) supports individuals, whānau and communities impacted by sexual violence in Wellington, Porirua and the Kāpiti Coast. 

 

Sexual violence can happen to anybody, so HELP supports absolutely anyone that has encountered sexual abuse or assault no matter their age, gender or sexual orientation. We also recognise that sexual violence doesn’t just impact an individual in isolation, so we extend that support to friends and whānau of survivors. Our services include a 24/7 crisis support line, social work, counselling and community education. The practical and emotional support offered by our clinicians provides a wrap-around service which helps survivors on their journey to wellbeing.

 

Wellington HELP has a team of counsellors/therapists that work with clients referred to our service. We are looking for an experienced team lead/manager to lead our dedicated counselling/therapy team and ensure the effective delivery of HELP’s counselling and therapeutic services. Based in Wellington you will work across our Porirua, Kapiti and Wellington Offices.

 

A qualified and registered counsellor/therapist, you will need to know how to deliver services operating within ACC guidelines (ideally an ACC counsellor), be personable and approachable, have strong management skills, be detail orientated and mature in outlook.   

 

You will also have a sound understanding of counselling in the context of treating trauma for survivors of sexual abuse and violence along with demonstrated ability to practice culturally safe ways of working with Māori.

Social Worker (x 2)

Permanent, full-time

Wellington HELP has a team of social workers that support the emotional and practical needs of clients referred to our service. We are looking for two (2) new social workers to join our established team. You will be working from either our Porirua, Kapiti or Wellington Office.

Duties include:

  • Providing ongoing therapeutic and practical intervention and assessment for clients impacted by sexual violence, including family/whānau

  • Crisis support and advocacy for people impacted by sexual violence, including family/whānau

  • Development and delivery of education programmes

 

Your skills/experience:

  • A recognised Social Work Qualification and SWRB registration

  • Demonstrated ability to practice culturally safe ways of working with Māori

  • Highly developed therapeutic assessment skills

  • Robust analysis of sexual violence

Therapist/Counsellor

Wellington HELP has a team of counsellors/therapists that work with clients referred to our service. Due to staff changes, we are looking for another experienced counsellor/therapist to join our team of dedicated therapists.

 

As a qualified and registered counsellor/therapist, you will be responsible for providing effective counselling/therapeutic intervention for survivors of sexual violence.   You will need to have a sound understanding of counselling in the context of treating trauma for survivors of sexual abuse and violence, along with demonstrated ability to practice culturally safe ways of working with Māori. ACC accreditation or ability to become ACC accredited is essential.

Contract Therapists - ACC registered

We are currently seeking expressions of interest from contract therapists to provide specialist counselling to our clients under the ACC ISSC programme.


If you have:

  • Extensive counselling experience

  • Experience in working with people affected by sexual abuse and sexual assault

  • Confidence in using IT and some skills/experience with client database systems

  • Indemnity insurance 


HELP can offer:

  • Support with ACC provider registration

  • Computer and client database support 

  • A friendly working environment

  • Support with administration of ACC invoicing
